Inheritances Of The Believers:
Inheritances of the believers in Christ are those things every believer in Christ has received in Him. These inheritances are only located in Christ and cannot be found outside Christ. Therefore, for one to have the right to obtain these inheritances he must be found in Christ. Let’s see from the quotation below some of the inheritances indicated in it.
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
From the above quotation, there are two paramount inheritances a believer in Christ has obtained. These are namely, redemption and forgiveness of sins! So redemption and forgiveness of sins have been obtained by believers in Christ as their inheritances. The confirmation therefore is that a believer has been redeemed and his or her sins have been forgiven. A believer is not waiting to be redeemed or for his or her sins to be forgiven because in Christ these have been obtained.
Let’s see other quotations in the bible where some other inheritances are mentioned.
“But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead. Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
Inheritances Are Established In Christ:
The indication from the above quotation is that one of the purposes of raising Jesus Christ from the dead is for the believer’s justification. So every believer in Christ has obtained justification from accusations as a result of Jesus’s resurrection. Therefore, as one of the inheritances in Christ, no believer should be expecting to be justified again. This is importance because it has been offered to him or her in Christ. Again let’s see what the verse below have for us.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”
It is clearly stated in the verse above that one of the inheritances of believers in Christ is that they have received spiritual blessings in heavenly in Christ. The believer in Christ is inundated with spiritual blessings in Christ. If they are spiritual blessings it means they are not visible or tangible but they are realities that are obtainable in Christ. Obviously, these spiritual blessings are not going to be given but they have been given to the believers as inheritances in Christ. Also, let’s see what another verse has for us below.
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”
The Things Jesus Is Made Unto Us:
The believers according to the verse above have been chosen to be holy and without blame before God in love. This is the nature that has been offered to believers in Christ as one of their inheritances in Christ. Furthermore, let’s see what another verse has for us below.
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”
1 Corinthians 1:30
The above quotation mentioned that, Jesus is made unto us wisdom; the implication is that the believers do not lack wisdom because Christ has become their wisdom. In the same verse it is stated that He has been made the believer’s righteousness. This implies that the believer in Christ will not obtain righteousness but has already obtained that in Christ now! Also from the above quotation it is important to state that a believer in Christ needs not to bother about sanctification. This is because already in Christ it has been made possible for him or her.
However, unfortunately many who are believers in Christ do not know that these inheritances have been given to them. They are busy working hard in order to achieve these things. What has been at the back of their minds is that these things will be given to them as rewards at the last day. Well, whatever they have been offered to believers are gifts from God and they cannot be seen as rewards because man couldn’t provide what it take to obtain the above inheritances in Christ.
