The Redemption Of man Is God’s Initiative – Pastor Chukwuemeka Charles Asiegbu

Redemption of Man:

Redemption of ManRedemption of man – It’s interesting to know that no man cajoled and prayed to God before He took this step of reconciliation between Him and man. God did that,

“According to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”

 Ephesians 1:11.

This means that man’s salvation or redemption or reconciliation is not of man’s making but of God’s intentional will. Therefore, salvation or redemption of man is God’s idea and He initiated it. He also went ahead and finished it without man’s contribution. Since it is a purpose and plan of God, He has the sole right to design and make it happen. And make it happen the way He desires after the counsel of His own will, because it’s His determination.

However, it is important to note that the fall of man didn’t happen to God by surprise. What I mean here to say is that, the righteous gesture of God to save man from sin is not a reaction from God. What makes Him God is that He cannot react, because He is all-knowing or omniscient in nature. Before man could derail, He knew and had plan towards that even before the foundation of the earth was laid.

Redemption Of Man The Plan Of God:

Therefore, the plan of God before the foundation of the earth to counteract man’s action is that in Christ Jesus man’s restoration will be established. And since this is the eternal purpose of God there is no two ways about. Let’s see what Apostle Paul says below.

“Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.”

Ephesians 1:9-10.

Remember, Christ is God who became man. Surely, there is no way God would have died because it is impossible for God to die. In this case, for God to die He has to put on man or the nature of man because it is man that dies. No sacrifice is good enough to take away the wage of sin except death sacrifice. The deaths of animals were not good enough to wipe away man’s sins except the death of the righteous God in man. Apostle Paul in his epistles to the Romans puts it this way.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”

Romans 6:23.

Therefore, Christ is the man God who died for the sins of the world by substitution. Apostle John in his gospel declared it this way.

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

John 1:29

An Unbeliever Just Need To Believe:

Redemption of ManWhen an unbeliever takes a step to accept the message of Christ it turns him into a believer. This is because he has just believed in what Christ has done in His death, burial, resurrection and ascension. And such brings the unbeliever into the fold of Christ. However, this is not an ordinary process as it seems at the surface. The reality is that before that unbeliever would have accepted the message of Christ, there must be this interplay of the work of the Holy Ghost in the heart of the unbeliever.

As the word is coming, the Holy Ghost through the spoken word convicts him of his sinful nature. And then ne brings into reality of the true nature of God that he supposed to possess. This statement highlights the fact that in the process of salvation Holy Ghost has important roles to play. And surely Jesus Christ mentioned and outlined His roles in this direction. Let’s see how Jesus puts in the book of John below.

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”

John 16:7-11
