Believer And His Freedom In Christ:
Believer and his freedom in Christ: the freedom an unbeliever obtains is as a result of what is called substitutionary work of Christ. It means in the eyes of God, whatever punishment that was meant for an unbeliever, Jesus Christ took his place. Therefore, an unbeliever by proxy in Jesus Christ went through the ordeals that he is supposed to go through. Apostle Paul sums it up this way;
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
It says that He was made sin not that He became sin. This implies that He took a position that was not His. He didn’t commit any sin but sin was laid on Him and He took it voluntarily for mankind. That is to say that the sin of mankind was laid on Him and without mincing words He took it. As He took it upon Himself at the same time the consequence of it was laid on Him. On this note whatever is the punishment of sin for man was laid on Him. The implication of this is that man is no longer answerable to his sin. If man is answerable to his sin it’s become double standard or jeopardy.
Let’s consider this verse below.
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Believer And His Freedom Is In Christ:
The quotation says He took the sin of the world. This implies that there is no more sin (sin nature or root) in the world. This is because Jesus has taken it away. It is interesting to know that every man will face judgment as a result of sins he has committed. However, Jesus Christ made Himself available for the judgment of sin to be laid on Him. As a result, no man will face judgment again because of sin he has committed.
The only way any man should face judgment by not accepting the fact that Jesus did take the consequence of his sin. Anyone who accepts this reality that Jesus died in his place has been freed from any consequence(s) of sin. This reality takes place because he has accepted that Jesus took his place. In the same way, anyone who refuses to accept the fact that Jesus has taken the consequence of his sin is not freed from the consequence of his sin. Therefore such a person will definitely face judgment because of his refusal to accept the finished work of Christ.
Freedom Is Established In The Law Of Spirit Of Life:
Freedom from condemnation is one of the freedoms the law of Spirit of life in Christ has offered to man. Interestingly, once the law of Spirit of life in Christ has taken over someone’s life automatically it disables the effectiveness of the law of sin and death in the life of that individual. The implication of this is that the individual is no longer under the rule of sin and death. This as well disables and brings to an end the manifestation and effect of the law of sin and death. Furthermore, it suggests that if one is under the influence of the law of sin and death, it means he is being possessed by the power behind the kingdom of darkness.
The outcome is that the individual’s attitude will of course portray the activities of the kingdom of darkness. On the other hand, when one is under the influence of the law of Spirit of life in Christ, he cannot be possessed by the powers of darkness. However, the truth is that he can be oppressed by the power of darkness. As a matter of fact, it means that the power of darkness loses potency in influencing the believer. Though, in some cases there are manifestations of the presence of darkness in the life of that individual.
Believer In Christ Is In The Light:
Once located in Christ, the symptoms and dream manifestations cannot hold waters in the life of the believer. This is because those things may be legalized in the kingdom of darkness but not in the Kingdom of Light. Therefore, if such takes place in the life of a believer, who is under the influence and control of the law of Spirit of life in Christ they don’t matter at all. The fact is that what is legalized in a Kingdom probably cannot be legalized in another Kingdom. This is because both countries are operating on different constitutional platforms.
So, all the things that do happen in the kingdom of darkness are not permitted to take place in the Kingdom of light. The point is that light and darkness has nothing in common. Interestingly, sometimes there are manifestations of things from the kingdom of darkness in the life of a believer but the occurrence of such things shouldn’t serve as a point for one to think that the believer is possessed. Such things are happens as a result of weak faith or better still, lack of knowledge.
Freedom Is A Thing Of Knowledge:
If the believer is well equipped in the knowledge of who he is, it will only take his resistance to terminate such manifestations. The truth is that a believer can be oppressed by powers of darkness. There is no way they can occupy him as in possession. This is true because the believer has denounced his allegiance to the kingdom of darkness. This took place once he accepted Christ. Therefore, the powers of darkness have no right standing to occupy him.
Whatever that would have led to the possession of the believer has been taken care of on the cross. Jesus died for the offense of the believer. The resurrection of Jesus took place for the justification of the believer in Him!
