There Is No Fear In Zion – Gloria Imuwahen Asiegbu

Fear Is Not Part of Zion:

Fear In ZionFear shouldn’t be a factor in the life of believers. The environment of the believer does not permit fear. Though, we have seen sometimes that many believers live in fear. This is a paradox and shouldn’t be the case. When this kind of situation arises, it means the believer in particular lacks knowledge. That is the knowledge of who he is in Christ. Certainly, if knowledge is there a believer should not be in fear.

Anchor Text:

“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:3

Text of Interest:

“They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.”

Psalms 84:7

Fear Does Not Exist In Zion:

Zion is the kingdom of light and in the light there is no fear, because everything is made clear and there is no doubt at all. For instance, if someone covers his or her face you might become suspicious of him or her because his or her face is not made open. But when someone’s face is made open, you have no reason to fear because you can see the face of the person and you will know how to relate with him or her. The same is the kingdom of darkness, because there is no light, you wouldn’t know where to step and how to walk around. In darkness fear is the prominent thing.

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son”

Colossians 1:13

Believers are in the light and as a result they should not fear. That’s why in several places in the bible we are told not to fear.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Isaiah 41:10

Why we should not fear In Zion!

  1. God Said So:

We should not fear because God said we should not. Let’s see what the book of Isaiah has to say in this direction;

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Isaiah 41:10

  1. Jesus Lives In Us:

The knowledge that Jesus is with us and that He has taken residence in us should be the main reason we should not fear. The fact is that any believer who fears has indicted himself or herself of lack of knowledge. One of the things that knowledge does is to create boldness in the life of someone who has it. Let’s see Matthew puts it in the verse below.

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

 Matthew 28:20,

The writer of the book of Hebrews throws better light to buttress the point that a believer should not live a life of fear. This is because God will never leave us and He will not forsake us. Let’s see how the writer puts it below.

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”

Hebrews 13:5

  1. God Is Our Helper:

One of the reasons a believer should not fear and be in doubt is that when situations come up God said He is his helper. So a believer lacks no helper. Let’s see how the book of Hebrews puts it.

“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Hebrew 13:6

  1. The Spirit Of God Is In Us:

Another reason a believer should not be in fear is that the believer carries God. That is God lives in the believer. Wherever the believer goes God goes. The Spirit of God is inside the believer. He is the adviser the believer has and His advice is perfect. See Romans 8:15, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Galatians 4:3, 5:1. 2 Timothy 1:7. Remember, the Spirit of God inside a believer is not the Spirit of fear!

  1. Death Is Far From A Believer:

Again, there are things a believer should acknowledge and that is, in God, there is no death and fear. This point is very important because death is one of things people fear most. However, when we have come to terms of the reality of eternity fear is eliminated. Oh yes, a believer is in God and in God there is no death and fear. Therefore, though a believer dies physical death the assurance is there that he lives in eternity. Let’s see how the writer of the book of Hebrews puts below.

“And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

   Hebrews 2:15

  1. A Believer Lives A Bold Life:

Fear is an indication of uncertainty. The existence of fear is an indication that boldness has gone into extinction. The truth is that a believer is called righteous, the bible described a believer as the one who walks boldly.  Let’s see how the book of Proverbs puts it below.

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Proverbs 28:1
