Forty Days Of Glory:
Forty days of glory is the description of events and the estimated period of time Jesus stayed around His disciples before His ascension. Jesus used the forty days of glory to unfold many untold things to His disciples. For instance nobody knew what happen to Him after He gave up His ghost on the cross. How and what quickened His body back to life. It was during these forty days of glory that His disciples got to know most of the hidden things.

During these forty days of glory Jesus appeared to His disciples severally and at different places. And in those days, He taught them things they have not known. Firstly, He appeared to Mary that very morning of His resurrection and told Mary where he was going. This is as stipulated in the verse below.
“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
In the verse above, the term ‘touch me not’ was not properly rendered because actually Mary held Jesus. She didn’t just touch Jesus but she held Him. And because of this wrong rendering by King James, many have suggested that Jesus did say that because He doesn’t want Mary to pollute Him. However, Jesus made His intention known to Mary that He’s going to meet His Father who is also the Father of Mary. Remarkably, Jesus exposed the fact that He and Mary share the same Fatherhood. Therefore, one of the reasons of going to meet His Father is to solidify this assertion.
What Happened Before Forty Days Of Glory:
So He has to go to the Father and present His sacrifice to Him according to what Apostle Paul wrote below.
(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

After the acceptance of His sacrifice by His Father, Jesus has to descend to wash the things of heaven. This is because the utensils in heaven were dirty as stipulated by the writer of the book of Hebrews.
“It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:”

Forty Days Of Glory Started In Emmaus:
In the evening of that same day, Jesus came down to earth and met tow of His disciples on the way to Emmaus. Luke puts it this way;
“And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”

The most interesting line in all the verses above is this statement ‘he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself’. It shows that this is the most comprehensive bible study Jesus had with His disciples. This is because it says He expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself. Interestingly, Jesus didn’t expound to them the scripture but things that are in the scripture concerning Him. This is the beginning of the forty days of glory with Christ. Luke in his account in the book of Acts puts it better as stated below.
“To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.”
The Forty Days Of Glory Is A Proof That Jesus Is Alive:
However, the forty days of glory entails in many infallible ways that Jesus is alive after His passion. Also during these forty days of glory Jesus taught His disciples of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. In this, He spoke so much about His death, burial and resurrection. He explained the prophecies that were spoken concerning Him. However, they were limited in their understanding. As a result, He asked them to stay put in Jerusalem so that the Spirit of Truth will explain better to them. The teachings of Jesus Christ during the forty days of glory formed the message of the apostles. It was during these forty days of glory that they learnt about the prophecies that stated His resurrection. The message of Apostle Peter puts it better this way.

“Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope. Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”

The Apostles Confirm The Teachings of Christ:
During the forty days of glory, Jesus indicated to His disciples that, this verse of the scripture was prophesied by David regarding His death and resurrection. Also see Psalm 16:10. Notice that it wasn’t only Apostle Peter that made this statement. Apostle Paul in his own account stated it as well.

“And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.”
Indeed, the forty days of glory was an infallible proof that Jesus wasn’t an escapee but someone who knows His mission and accomplished it.
Jesus Used Forty Days Of Glory To Fortify His Disciples:
Again during the forty days of glory He appeared and had an in-depth discussion with Apostle Peter.
“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. And He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”

The forty days of glory, was the period Jesus used to fortify the faith and hope of His disciples. He did this till the day the Holy Spirit came down and took residence in them. It would have been a disaster if there was nothing like forty days of glory. The disciples would have found their ways; they wouldn’t have waited for the arrival of Holy Spirit.
