Easter benefits are those benefits that are accredited to man as a result of the death of Jesus Christ. The celebration of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ is what is called Easter. This is widely accepted and has become a norm and a practice in Christendom for centuries. Though many are of the opinion that this celebration is the brainchild of paganism and hence shouldn’t have a place in Christianity. And because of the divergence views people have as regards to Easter there is this apathy during its celebration.

So, some among Christians believe that the dating is wrong and some believe that the source is wrong therefore is not welcomed. However, there is one thing one cannot take away from Easter celebration and that is, it’s an opportunity to preach Christ. As a result, one of the Easter benefits is that it has created an opportunity for us to preach Christ. Obviously, it is during Easter celebration that it seems all Christian gatherings are having one voice. And that one voice is the preaching of Christ.
Easter Celebration A Time To Preach Christ:
It is therefore, clear that one of the Easter benefits to us is the opportunity to preach Christ. Preaching Christ here means preaching the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ. The yearning of every well-meaning preacher of the gospel of Christ is that an opportunity is avail to him or her to preach Christ. On that note, if Easter celebration offers us such opportunity we should grasp it with all alacrity. Apostle Paul speaking to the Corinthians says thus below;
“But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;”
1 Corinthians 1:23

“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
1 Corinthians 2:2
In the above verses, Apostle Paul was making known to his audience that one of his Easter benefits was his ability to preach Christ. This is absolutely true because we have nothing else to preach except Christ. This was what Apostle Paul was doing especially among the people called the Gentiles. He was declaring to them the good news. And the good news is that Jesus Christ died and was buried and He resurrected on the third day. Therefore, most importantly is that Easter benefits are for the people called the Gentiles.

Apostles Affirm The Easter Benefits:
This is according to his declaration in the quotation below.
. “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

Apostle Paul was saying to the Gentiles that one of Easter Benefits is that through Jesus Christ they have been brought into the family of God. He said it was a mystery and now it has been revealed and made manifest. This implies that God didn’t alienate Himself from the people called the Gentiles. That it was a mystery among the people then means it was there but it wasn’t known.

Also, that it is made known now doesn’t imply that it is a reaction from God. However, it shows that it was the eternal purpose of God. That the people called the Gentiles have always been the people of God in the mind of God. One of Easter benefits is that the people called the Gentiles have come to the realization of the reality of the fatherhood of God. Again among the Easter benefits is that the people called Gentiles can proudly say that God is their father.
Notice that the narrative above wasn’t the case before the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ.
Easter Benefits For Gentiles:
Apostle Paul went further to confirm this in one of his epistles to the Ephesians as stated below.
“Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands. That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.”

Again from the quotations above we can see that one of Easter benefits to the Gentiles is that they’re now people of God. This shows that in the past, no one sees the Gentiles as a people of God but now they are. This was not stated by Apostle Paul alone, in one of his epistles Apostle Peter supported Apostle Paul’s claim. Let’s see it below.
“Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”
1 Peter 2:10
This is Established Fact In The Old Testament:
The statement above was not originally stated by Apostle Peter; here he was quoting an Old Testament text from prophet Hosea. Just as stated below;
“And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.”

The above verse signifies that the acceptance of the Gentiles into God is not a New Testament thing and neither is it an Old Testament thing. This has been the thought or mind of God before the foundation of the Earth. The fact is that God doesn’t react to situation(s) however He has done something beforehand concerning any situation. This is because God knows the end from the beginning and therefore has begotten the Gentiles to Himself before the foundation of the world.
Apostle Peter’s Vision About The Gentiles:
To create a better understanding of this situation let’s see what happened to Apostle Peter.
“And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance. And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth. Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, also fowls of the air. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time. What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.”

In the above quotation, God said to Apostle Peter thus ‘What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common’. The statement didn’t say what God will cleanse but what God has cleansed. Meaning God has done that in the past but the people of Old Testament didn’t know about it. However, it has been revealed to the Apostles as declared by Apostle Paul in Colossians 2:26-28. Again one of the Easter benefits to the Gentiles is that they are the ‘new man’ that is created in Christ. And also this is applicable to all that believes in Christ. Apostle Paul puts it better this way.
“Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.”
Easter Benefits Is That There Is No Jew Or Gentile Today:
Furthermore, one of Easter benefits is that in Christ Jesus the middle wall of partition between the Jews and the Gentiles has been broken. Therefore, there are no Jews or Gentiles in Christ but one new man who is a product of faith in Christ. This is as stated here below;
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

The facts remains that every Gentile believer in Christ has been created in Jesus Christ. Therefore he or she is born after Christ. See Ephesians 2:10. Today, in the ministry of God, the Jews and the Gentiles are called to function together. Apostle Paul puts it better this way.
“Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?”
