Though, they don’t understand the reason behind it, they just say it for the sake of it. Also, many casually use the name of Jesus for mere exclamation expression not that they really understand what it means. And probably, some use the name of Jesus because it sounds sweet and makes one’s expression in a discussion untangling. That is by using the name of Jesus people finds their statement trustworthy even though they’re slandering. Again, many Christians use the name of Jesus because it is a guarantee to prayer answers. Therefore, they do not understand the notion behind the usage except that it guarantees the answer to their prayer.

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Ascertain from this teaching the meaning of Antichrist
Let’s examine some highlights from the quotations above. Firstly, it is stated that God has highly exalted Jesus. How? By giving Him a name which is above every name! Therefore, the exaltation God gave Jesus is that His name is above every name. As a result, at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. The knees that should bow are in heaven, in earth and under the earth. It went further to say that at the name of Jesus every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord. These things above should not happen for the sake of it but to the glory of God the father.

Interestingly therefore, the name of Jesus is the name above every name because at it, every knees in heaven, in the earth, under the earth bows. Also, every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the father. So, this name brings knees down and causes tongues to confess the lordship of Jesus. All to the glory of God the father! The implication here is that the glory of God the father is routed and rooted at the name above every name. The end product of the usage of this name is that glory is given to God the father.
Name Of Jesus The Usage:
Hence, one can authoritatively say that the name above every name is the channel or authority that brings glory to God. This is because when it is used in the right and proper perspective it brings glory to God. This is where the understanding of the usage comes in. So, one cannot just start using the name of Jesus without understanding what it stands for. The outcome will be a futile and meaningless activity.

However, it is important to point out that God didn’t give Jesus the name above every name for the sake of it. There was a reason why God gave Him this name. In the pretext of the quotations we used previously we can find it as stated below.
“But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

From the verses above it clear that Jesus did something before He received this title “name above every name.” Firstly and interestingly, He made Himself of no reputation, became a servant, became a man, humbled Himself and became obedient unto death on the cross. The things Jesus did as mentioned above gave Him the reputation he has received from God. This is to say that if He has not done the things mentioned above he wouldn’t have received the name.
How The Name Above Every Name Came About:
The title came as a result of His death on the cross. Therefore, being God that became a man, He died the death of man so that He can take away the power of death from man. The writer Hebrews puts it this way;
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”

Therefore, Jesus defeated and destroyed the devil and took the power of death from him. This He did by dying and resurrecting from the dead. This is true because before His death, He never made statement like stated below;
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
All power in heaven and in earth was given to Jesus after His resurrection. So the name of Jesus is not just a name but a reputation he earned. This is to say that the name of Jesus is not a name but an authority or reputation. The name He answered before His death didn’t change from Jesus to another thing but it remained the same. But what has transpired is that His level of authority changed. In the gospels, His disciples used His name to cast out demons and heal the sick. However, at that time He didn’t have all the power in heaven and in earth but now He has all.
The Name Of Jesus Is A Reputation:
Therefore, at the name of Jesus not at the mention of Jesus every knee bow and all tongue confesses that He is LORD! The name of Jesus is the reputation of Jesus. The reputation that Jesus earned not just for Himself alone but for as many that believes in Him. This name has become a family name belonging to all races and tongues that believe in Jesus. They have the license to use it and then demonstrate the glory of God in their life. When they use the name of Jesus, every knee bows. And all tongues confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father. No wonder on that very day Apostle Peter and John spoke thus to the man at the beautiful gate.

“And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.”
It Has Become The Believer’s Property:
The name above every name is the name that belongs to every believer in Christ. It has become a legal tender for every believer to do all spiritual transactions. The name of Jesus is the seal that is on in every prayer and statement a believer makes. The name above every name is the authority of every believer. And that is why Jesus on that very day said these words to His disciples thus;
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
All to the glory of God the father!
