The Importance Of Revealed Knowledge Of God

Revealed Knowledge:

Revealed KnowledgeRevealed knowledge is very important in the life of a believer in Christ. This is because, without it, the believer in Christ will definitely find it difficult to navigate his ways. The truth is that when the purpose and meaning of a thing is not known abuse of such is inevitable. And obviously there is this lack of revealed knowledge in most believers today. The paucity has been as a result of lack of proper teaching or the induction of right doctrine.  One reality every Christian should come to term with is the fact that one cannot practice Christianity without revelation. This implies that if a particular knowledge about something is not revealed one will lack understanding in that direction.

The outcome is that whatever might be the benefit from that particular thing will elude the Christian in question. A wise man once said that “If a Christian lacks revealed knowledge in his Christian practices his Christianity will be an apology.” And another wise man said “No Christian has any mountain before him, the only mountain before a Christian is ignorance (revealed knowledge)” Also another wise man said that “Illumination (revealed knowledge) is the currency of celebrating dominion in the Kingdom of God.

The statements above accentuate the importance of revealed knowledge in the life of an average Christian. The implication is that if one doesn’t know anything definitely he cannot do anything. Not until knowledge comes situation and circumstances will continue to linger. In the aspect of a Christian, the required knowledge here is the revealed knowledge.

Revealed Knowledge A Must For Every Believer:

A prophet of God in the Old Testament once cried that God didn’t reveal to him of a particular incident that took place in his era. This shows how important it is to have revealed knowledge in things relating to our life in Christ. Therefore, if there is anything a Christian should zealously seek it should be revealed knowledge in Christ. Jesus speaking to the Jews in the gospel of John said to them that

“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.”

John 8:56

The meaning of the quotation above is that Abraham saw the days of Jesus ahead of time. That is God made the days of Christ known to Abraham and he rejoiced because of that. Therefore, Abraham had a revealed knowledge of the days of Christ. And of course many who are of his generation didn’t know anything about Christ. This is the gospel that God preached to Abraham and he believed. So Abraham believed what God has revealed to him and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. Again Jesus speaking to His Jewish audience said that

Jews Lacked The Revealed Knowledge Of God:

What Jesus is saying to the Jews in the above quotations is that though the Jews have been calling on the name of God, and have been worshipping God they do not know God. That is to say they lack the revealed knowledge of who God is. In the next verse, Jesus opened up to them that He is the container of God’s revealed knowledge.

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”

John 5:39-40

So if anyone is studying the scripture it must be for the purpose of getting the reveal knowledge of Christ. This is because the revelation knowledge of Christ means the total revelation knowledge of who God is. In reality, to know Christ therefore, means to know God. And without knowing Christ one cannot be able to know who God is. Let’s see what Jesus said to His disciples in the gospel of Luke.

“All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.”

Luke 10:22

Jesus says that “All things are delivered to me of my Father.” Question what all things that are delivered to Him? The answer is the revealed knowledge of God.

What Apostle Paul Said About Jesus:

Revealed KnowledgeNo wonder Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Colossians made some expressions about Jesus like “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature (Colossians 1:15). That is to say that if one is looking for God and has seen Jesus he has seen God. He also said that “In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3). That is in Christ all treasures of wisdom and revealed knowledge of God is found. Lastly but not the least he said “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:9).

However, in the gospel of Luke after making the statement aforementioned above, He turned to His disciples and said to them thus;

“And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see. For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.”

The Revealed Knowledge Is For Insiders:

This brings us to something very important and that is, the revealed knowledge of God is not meant for people outside God. It is made for people inside Christ or the children of the Kingdom. Jesus put it straight this way to His disciples;

“And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables”

Mark 4:11

The revealed knowledge of God is also known as the mystery of God. The mystery of God is Christ because it is located or found IN CHRIST. However, the people of the Old Testament couldn’t know Christ; they knew Him in symbols, rituals and metaphors.  Therefore, they lacked God’s revealed knowledge. Apostle Paul declared to his audience in Corinth in his epistle to them that

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

1 Corinthians 2:9

“How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;”

Ephesians 3:3-5
