Spiritual: The Growth Among The Believers And The Envy

SpiritualSpiritual Growth:

It is a known fact that no one comes to Christ on his or her own. Spiritual growth starts from the point when we come to Christ. And the only source of coming to Christ is by hearing the gospel and believing in it. Every believer no matter his or her grade in Christ is capable of winning a soul. However, is one thing to win a soul and is another thing to develop the soul. Spiritual growth therefore, is the main purpose of winning souls. Every soul that comes to the Lord should tend toward spiritual maturity.

This is where the difference comes in. Some believers come to the Lord and decide to stay stagnant in their spiritual growth. And sometimes, it takes them many years to remain in such state. They see no need for the eagerness to develop spiritually after all they have come into the Lord and that settles it. However, inasmuch as it is very important to come into the Lord, it is also important to develop in the Lord. This factor matters much because if one doesn’t grow in the Lord, his or her activities in the Lord will be without knowledge.

This is what Apostle Paul said about the Jews:

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.”

Romans 10:1-2

Envy Among Brethren:

Again, is one thing to be zealous in our godly activities, is another thing to be zealous in doing that according to knowledge. Those that come to the Lord with zeal according to knowledge always have spiritual ascendency in the Lord. This is the crux of the matter. As believers we must stay in the Lord with the zeal that is backed up with knowledge. Sometimes, when they look down they see the one that first talked to them about Christ not measuring up to their standard. Here comes the envy. Most brethren find it difficult to listen or be under the person they think that they brought to the Lord. There is this under-laying thought of “I was in here before them therefore I can’t listen to them.”

The reality is that they are in the position not as a result of their cleverness but as a result of their ability to explore the grace of God in them.  However, is very important that we accept them and work with them. The benefit is that we can gain from the grace of God that is upon them. One thing you have to consider is this, though you brought them to the Lord, and their names are ringing like bell all over. Their spiritual life history will not be complete without you.  Therefore, rejoice and be glad that someone you brought to the Lord is doing well spiritually in Him.

On the other hand, will you be happy that someone you brought to the Lord is not doing well in Him?
