Tongue: The Power of the Believer’s Tongue
The believer should always open his ears to the tongue that speaks God’s word. The believer should shut his ears to every other word that emanates from the world and its system. This is because such will defile him. When a believer hears the Word of God and processes it in his heart the output is always sanctification.
No wonder Apostle Paul while advising his audience in colossi declared to them thus “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” See (Colossians 3:16). Notice that the Word can only dwell in you if you listen to it always.

However, as believers we should listen or hear things quickly but be slow in speaking. Though we should hear everything but we should process what we hear from the perspective of who we are in Christ. If what we hear doesn’t tally with our nature in Christ; we should discard such and maintain our position in Christ. It is important to state here that this statement includes words coming from a man behind the Church pulpit.
If we ignore this, it will cause harm to our identity in Christ. This is because we may be found speaking recklessly and such will puncture hole in our nature as believers. Therefore, our tongue is another gateway we should be conscious of as believers. On the other hand is very vital to note this fact. And that is the tongue mostly speaks as a result of what has been heard or said internally or externally.
The Tongue As A Symbol:
The resilience not to speak quickly is a measure a believer takes in order not to dent his righteous nature. This again is because the quality of one’s words gives the parameter to weigh his personality. On this note, it implies that the tongue is a symbol of personification.
Therefore if properly or improperly used denotes the level of identification a believer has with Christ. This is the reason a believer should be careful in the usage of his tongue. Because it either repels or draws people to him. The reality is that a believer should as a matter of fact, bridle his tongue when it matters. See (James 1:26, 3:2).

However, there is an important role the tongue plays that we should not overlooked in this write-up. And that is the authoritative nature of the tongue. The tongue issues authority either ways. Therefore, as a symbol of authority tongue is use to construe and pattern things around the user. The user uses his tongue to dictate the pace of events or activities in and around him at all times.
Here, the believer uses his tongue to redirect things in his life. Here, with the tongues of the believers they command things to start falling into places. And certainly they have to obey his commands because the believer’s tongue is design to function that way. See (Job 22:28).
As a matter of fact, the way and manner we use our tongues matters. For instance, in our businesses how we use our tongue will definitely indicate the level of progress our businesses will attend. This is important because many believers are not doing well in their businesses. And it isn’t because they don’t have what it takes to run a good business outfit.
The Usage Of The Tongue Matters:
The whole blame is because they cannot use their tongue better. In business conversations, the first port of call is the tongue. I mean the first approach starts with the tongue. And sometimes one might lose big business opportunity that is mouth watery because of his failures to use his tongue properly.
It is vital to note that most businesses that are not doing well as suppose isn’t because of external manipulations. Also is not because of some of spiritual remote control means but because of this issue of tongue usage. See (Proverbs 18:20).

Meanwhile, understand that many families are in total chaos and disarray today. They are in the situation because someone among them is wagging his or her tongue in the wrong direction. And such nasty attitude is putting everyone off. If the person can tame his or her tongue, the situation should not deteriorate and family life will be normal.
So many issues that crop up in the family are not as a result of witchcraft. It is like that because tongues of the family members are not bridled. This is why Apostle Paul advises believers thus;
“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Colossians 4:6).
Families where words are full of grace and seasoned with salt, there is no way issues will result to brawls. Notice that I didn’t say that there will be no issues in a family. It is certain that issues will spring up here and there. However, inasmuch as responses are full of grace and season with salt it will not escalate and results to brawls.
The Tongue Plays Important Roles:
The tongue therefore, plays important roles in establishing the difference between the believer’s family and the family that is in the world. The believer’s family understands the way and manner they can use their tongue. Their tongues are use in manifesting their nature in Christ and thereby representing Christ in their family and public affairs. Also we use our tongues to pray. If we want to change things around us, we open our mouths and start using our tongues to declare things. And they will re-arrange in the way we want them to be. This shows that if we pray rightly with our tongues we have the right result and if we pray wrongly then we have wrong result. (Proverbs 18:21)
