The Misnomer about Prayer Time
The Definition of Prayer:
In the past prayer has been defined as a means or simply taking to God. Well, the increase in revelation knowledge has brought the realization that this definition is wrong and has distorted the meaning of prayer. Yes one has to accept that there are times we pray and talk to God directly. And that is the time we offer Him praises and adoration in it showcasing His faithfulness and mercifulness towards us. Therefore, it is important to point out that about 90% of prayers we make are not directed to God. This implies that, prayer is not just talking to God it also involves making power available.

The truth is that this power is already in you and not in God. On this note, one can say that prayer is a means through which a believer in Christ changes situation. This shows that is by prayer a believer changes things working against the will and purpose of God for him. Here, whatever the believer sees as an obstacle to the inheritance he has received from God is removed. Therefore, through prayer the believer takes it off according to the power that is at work in him or her in Christ. Let’s see what the bible says “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” (Ephesians 3:20). The effectiveness and intensity of this power depends on how much the believer knows about this power that is at work in him.
Prayer According to Knowledge:
The undoing of prayer comes from praying not according to knowledge. Another thing is praying and doubting the prayer you have made. Here, we are going to deal with the former which is praying not according to knowledge. There’s this myth surrounding the act of prayer in the church world especially in this part of the world. Christians have been made to believe that for their prayers to be answered they have to pray at a certain hour of the night. This is because these certain hours of the night are the times the demons, witches and wizards gather to have their meeting.
In this part of the world mainly, it is not out of place to find ministers telling their members to pray at 2.00am every night. The notion is that it is the most powerful time to pray because it is the time the demons gather. Well, the activities of the demons should not keep us awake but our act of devotion to seek for better knowledge of God. We are not supposed to know the demons better than we know God. And the truth is that the better we know God is better we have all that it takes to overcome the devises of darkness.
Prayer A Spiritual Faithful Activity:
However, prayer must be a faithful spiritual activity in which the one praying issue orders through his mouth. Prayer therefore is a mouth action or activity that turns things around in the spiritual realm. It affects the course of things in the realm of the spirit. And in the realm of the spirit the principalities and powers there acts according to the commands of the one praying. These principalities and powers are spiritual beings and as spiritual beings they are not under the control of time and space. This means that they do not exist within time and space and therefore, time and space doesn’t matter to them.

This implies that demons do not know what 2.00 am is and no time frame can regulate them. They are on the loose to do their havoc at any time of the day whether night or day. So we see evil occurrences induced, inspired, controlled by demons taking place at any time of the day. The misnomer here is that 2.00 am in Nigeria could be afternoon somewhere in any part of the world. Somehow at that particular hour some tragic events could be taking place in any part of the world. And in Nigeria people at the same particular hour are having sound sleep.
Prayer Is Not about Parameters of Time and Space:
Recently we heard of a flight that flow from a country that is in 2018 and landed in a country that is still in 2017. It is an indication that time is not a factor in the realm of the spirit. This is because the beings in the realm of the spirit don’t exist within the parameters of time and space. Notice that if prayer is made, sickness that is supposed to take five months to heal under medical supervision heals instantly. Just because when the realm of the spirit invades into a matter, time doesn’t matter at all. So is fallacious to wake up or wake someone up to pray midnight prayer because that is the time the demons are at work.

This reason is not according to knowledge! Now don’t get it wrong, is not that if one prays in the midnight or 2.00 am is wrong. The point here is that a believer can wake up and pray at any time of the night. Prayer should not be because it is the time the demons are at work but because is comfortable for him. One can take the cognizant that praying in the midnight times is better because there are no distractions. Considering the fact that praying without focus will just amount to a futile effort.
Be Awake In the Spirit Not In Your Body:
The problem this has caused among many Christians is that they don’t sleep comfortably at night. They are always looking out for one demons or the other that wants to attack them in the night. They forget that the Spirit of God is in them and where the Spirit of God is there is liberty. Remember the bible says:
“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” (Psalms 127:1).
What is important is not that you are bodily awake but that you are spiritually awake. This is important because “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13).
